About
Hi, I’m Monica. Over the decades I've had the joy of delivering music sessions and spending time in early years settings and have seen how singing, moving to music, and playing instruments can make such a positive difference to the children, staff, families and the whole nursery environment.
During my ten years leading an arts charity, I got to speak with many nursery managers and practitioners. They shared in my knowledge (and frustration!) that although early years practitioners are often expected to lead music activities, there is very little training available in how to do so effectively. They had plenty of places to source musical ideas but wanted to learn the practicalities for keeping children’s attention, how to use instruments and resources, how to fit music into every day nursery routines. Managers were also really interested to hear that music could be used strategically - not just for fun!
My passion is to enable practitioners and managers to share music in their nurseries - without relying on the occasional visit from music specialists. I used my thirty plus years of learning and experience to create new training workshops, programmes and resources to boost staff skills and confidence. Now that my unique frameworks have been tried and tested, I'm so excited to offer online training for early years practitioners and nursery managers, accessible worldwide.
I'm really looking forward to sharing these skills with you!
Five fun facts about me:
I’m a Dutch Australian living in the Scottish Highlands.
We live in a tiny house on wheels. (We designed it to fit our piano and harp!)
I have four (musical!) children.
I love to travel, and we recently spent three months in Australia (digital nomad style.)
Since graduating from my early years teaching degree I have always taught music and seem to get even more passionate about it as time goes on: I love helping people to use music to make the world an even more wonderful place!
